Not sure what to do on a nice weekend or when you have visitors over? Don’t fret! We’ve got tips on some of the best things you can do in Brentwood Park. You don’t need to head to Vancouver or take a long drive to experience natural beauty or discover the best shopping. Check out these four options found right in Brentwood’s backyard!
Shop at Brentwood Town Centre
Brentwood Town Centre is a central feature of the Brentwood Park neighbourhood. Connected directly to a SkyTrain station, this mall sees a huge number of visitors attracted to its diverse offering of local and favourite brands. It’s no wonder! From apparel to home decor, this mall has everything you’re looking for. Brentwood Town Centre also continues to grow, adding to its 60 strong list of shops, services, and restaurants. Planned additions include H&M, La Taqueria, and even a Cineplex VIP! Try the food trucks that arrive in the summer for a different kind of culinary experience. Whether you’re looking to shop all day with your friends or explore many of the high end fashion stores for your next self-treat, Brentwood Town Centre has it all.
Bike the Central Valley Greenway
The Central Valley Greenway is a 24 km bicycle and pedestrian pathway that runs from Pacific Central Terminal in Vancouver all the way to New Westminster! It roughly follows the Millennium Line SkyTrain path, and is one of two main greenways to cut across Metro Vancouver (the other being the BC Parkway). On this trail, you can pass through many of Vancouver’s and Burnaby’s major landmarks and parks along a flat, relatively easy biking path. A unique feature of the region, the Central Valley Greenway is a great way to get exercise, go for a leisurely bike ride, or even commute into work if you’re so inclined. The best part is that if you get tired, you can just hop on the SkyTrain and rest on the way back home.
Rent a boat at Deer Lake
Burnaby’s two main natural features are its lakes and its mountain conservation area. Deer Lake, a 34 hectare body of water found right in the heart of the suburb is a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike. Winding boardwalks, wooded trails, and ecological sanctuaries make up this immense community greenspace. On one end, you can stroll along the park’s extensive system of paths and trails, but on the other, you can relax next to the lake or visit places like the Burnaby Village Museum or the Burnaby Art Gallery. Even better, you can rent a boat! Accessed by Sperling Avenue, Deer Lake Boat Rentals (https://deerlakeboatrentals.com/) provides all the gear and equipment you need for a day on the water. Ask the friendly staff for help deciding between a kayak, a paddle boat, or many of the other options available. Depending on your choice, prices range from $19/hr to $36/hr plus tax.
Get a massage at Relaxation Station
Nothing says “treat yourself” more than a relaxing massage.
